I was the Executor of my best friend's will and unexpectedly found myself working with Metz & Jones to manage a probate case during a period of extreme grief. I couldn't be happier with the practical legal counsel, very fair professional fees, and compassion I received from Carol and her team. It was actually fun to meet with them in their office or virtually. I had a few hiccups with some very large financial institutions in collecting assets, and it was apparent Metz & Jones was TOTALLY on my side; there's no better feeling when your attorney gets just as enraged as you when a Fortune 500 does not want to play nicely. Because the probate case went so well under Carol's guidance, my partner and I also engaged Metz & Jones to do our own estate planning. It was so comfortable discussing our end of life wishes in an LGBTQ+ embracing environment. I can't even imagine how awkward that conversation would have been with a straight attorney who, while maybe even an ally, still simply cannot relate to the many nuances of being gay. If you work with Metz & Jones, which I strongly recommend, it's helpful to schedule meetings at regular intervals, depending on your type of engagement. I found myself making a list of questions as issues would arise, and then we would efficiently knock them out in bi-weekly meetings versus arbitrary email exchanges. I look forward to working with Metz & Jones in the future; it has been a true delight and I'm very grateful!

Carol from Metz & Jones was amazing! This firm is queer-friendly and we reached out to them after Roe v. Wade fell in 2021 to make sure my wife and I had documentation alongside our marriage in case certain states wouldn’t honor a marriage between two women. Carol and her team helped us get our power of attorney, medical power of attorney, estate planning, a trust and will, and any other documentation we might need. They also helped us with a name change! In total, the process took about six weeks and a few thousand dollars (mostly for the name change due to court fees). Super appreciate them! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
