I contacted Mark Melmer approximately the second the week of February, 2014 and within 48 hours I had an appointment with him. I liked him and his partner immediately. Their experience, not only with family law issues, but having spent more than 5 years in the Domestic Violence division gave me the confidence that I was lacking when I was initially served by my ex-husband who was fighting me for custody of our 6 year old. Mark is extremely detailed, and for someone who had never been involved in a legal battle before, this provided me great comfort. He made a point to get in touch with me at least once a week, and most of our conversations lasted well over 30 minutes. At times it seemed like he was offering emotional support as well, which is much needed if not expected when it comes to a mom and her child. If ever I needed a question answered or had an issue that needed immediate resolution, he made sure to find a way to resolve it and most of the time would continue to ensure that all other areas of concern were mitigated. Would I retain this firm again? Undoubtedly. Although I hope I never need to, I would have complete confidence that Mr. Melmer would see to it that my case is handled with complete professionalism and that I will walk away successful, much like I did this first time around. It was because of him and his guidance through those tedious hours of mediation that I avoided having to go to court, and that my daughter is stable and at home with me, my husband, and her other siblings.
