30+ years ago, I had a decision to make. Which side was I going to be on? Born and raised in rural Alabama, I was surrounded every day by working people – the blue collar type. They worked at paper mills. They worked in the logging woods. They worked in the garment factories. They did what they had to do to raise and support their families. It was not easy.
In the end, the decision was not hard. It did not take long. I was for those people from the start. I did not start out representing corporations and insurance companies, only to later say I was for working folks. I did not have a change of heart. I did not change loyalties. Never will!
This is who we are. It is the core of what we believe.
