This law office represented me for child custody. My ex was being extremely careless in handling parent-child relationships (at the time). I found Lauren Smyth and gave her a call. She was extremely well spoken, was professional, and ambitious. However, she was going up against a Judge who had it out for me (Judge Arteaga) and an Attorney (Jesse G. Rivera [State Bar ID#: 00791536]) whom had been wanting to have sexual relationships with my Ex well before she reached the age of 18. He would even reach out to her when I was deployed overseas. He should have been removed.. None the less, my Ex and her Attorney ultimately had control of the cases progress. Jesse Rivera had no issues in representing her for free either (until those sexual advances were denied and my Ex got a new boyfriend). This costed me a ton of money since my Exs Attorney kept resetting hearings and dragging it out over a course of 5 years. When we had a hearing with Judge Arteaga, It was clear that Lauren did not realize how bad the situation was once Judge Arteaga and Jesse Rivera began to run the show. To make it worse, at times it was me arguing with the Judge. The order at the end of that hearing was a massive blow to my family and I at the time. Later, there was personal information that I shared with my attorney, who then shared this with my Exs Attorney, who then shared this with my Ex. That should have never happened. This coupled with costs, and what I witnessed in court, were ultimately the reasons in hiring a new attorney. Laurens personality is amazing, her office is great, she was always professional, always available to meet, call, and text, which was awesome. - but it was obvious that she was afraid of Judge Arteaga and missed the opportunity to target the relationship between my Ex and her Attorney once we stepped foot into the courtroom. I am hoping she has since become more of a savage in the Bexar County, and doesn’t underestimate opposing counsels.

She was kind and understanding to my financial situation, and was willing to work with me on a payment plan that wasn't burdensome to me.
