More about Alaska

Alaska is the most populous U.S. state in terms of area. It covers more land than all three other states (Texas and California), combined. It is the 7th largest subnational division worldwide. It is the third-least populated and most sparsely populated country in the world. However, it is also the continent's most populous territory. It lies mostly north of the 60th Parallel and has a population of 736,000. This figure is more than four times the combined population of Greenland and Northern Canada. Anchorage is home to approximately half of Alaska's population. Juneau, the state capital, is the second-largest city in the United States. It covers more territory than Rhode Island and Delaware. Sitka, the former capital of Alaska is the largest U.S. town by area.

The Alaska Statutes include the laws that were passed by the Alaska legislature. These laws, along with the Alaska Constitution provisions, are often interpreted by both the Alaska Supreme Court (Alaska Court of Appeals) and the Alaska Court of Appeals. There are also decisions by the federal Alaska District Court that could affect Alaskan residents. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has the power to review decisions made by the Alaska District Court. Sometimes, the U.S. Supreme Court can review appeals from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals or the Alaska Supreme Court.
