My wife and I were "rear ended" in an auto accident and we each suffered different types of medical injuries. Having never been in need of an Injury Lawyer I decided to spend a few days to do my due diligence. This helped us make our most important decision....picking Shapiro/Delgado/Hofmann as our legal team.We started working with Adam Shapiro (and his assistants) who made us feel confident as we were constantly updated through the entire process and on two occasions they were even able to schedule much needed medical appointments for my wife when we couldn't.Although offered, we never felt the need to drive to their offices as our claims were totally handled over the phone or thru email documentation. I was in an auto accident in June of 2022. I was t-boned by the other driver and the crash severely injured my L shoulder and back. The other driver was 100% at fault and cited for the accident.The process moved slowly, as is common in these types of cases, for 22 months and then mediation was scheduled right before trial.David Shapiro represented me and I could not have asked for a better attorney, source of knowledge, experienced counsel, and ultimately a friend to advocate for me. My injuries required surgery but, due to underlying medical conditions, I was not cleared for surgery before mediation and, ultimately, a trial. Opposing counsel offered a minimal sum because I couldn’t have surgery and felt a jury wouldn’t award anything close to the other drivers policy limits without surgery even though scheduled surgeries were into the hundreds of thousands of $.David and I had many honest and sometimes animated discussions about how best to approach the case. He was always very honest with me and did a fantastic job of letting me know I ultimately could make a decision and he provided me with the positives as well as the potential pitfalls. He is the only attorney I have worked with who showed the intestinal fortitude to not settle and was 100% willing to go to trial if that’s what I chose.At the end of the day, I considered everything David had communicated and agreed with his plan of action. I had little hope that mediation would bear any fruit based on two years of dealing with the opposing counsel and providing documentation for every nonsensical request they made. Many times I was frustrated and I would vent to David. He always talked me off the ledge and was supportive but honest about the what and why.Mediation started off slow and unproductive as expected but after 3 hours, I was privileged to witness the savviness and profound legal knowledge and expertise David possessed. He did a fantastic job laying out my case in granular detail and then form an extremely convincing narrative around it. At this point, I still had not had surgery but, with David’s legal and persuasive acumen, I watched him perform legal “surgery” and mitigate every argument the defense presented to the mediator.After 4+ hours of intense negotiations, David secured a settlement of 97% of the other driver’s policy limits as well as half of my own insurance under insured limits. With no surgery and limited treatments to date, I do not believe there is another legal mind who could have obtained the results David did with what he had to work with.Davis is an incredible legal mind who is honest, candid, communicative, and has the courage to pursue any avenue you wish to resolve your case.I looked at the huge law firms that have media and billboard ads. I interviewed many attorneys and I decided that David gave me the best chance at a fair resolution. I am blessed to have had David as my legal eagle and I have so much respect for howhe conducts himself.There are larger firms but if you want an attorney who isn’t in his profession for self-serving reasons, has a sharp legal mind, knows the Sarasota legal community from being in practice for over 30 years and has fostered long-term relationships with attorneys and judges, you will not find a better attorney and even better person to be your best advocate than David Shapiro.
