To be fair, this is based on experience with the Morris Hall firm 10 years ago. However, the attorney we dealt with is still a partner and I suspect the firm is still practicing the same way. I will give 2 stars because firm did in fact set up trust properly, and make changes as needed. So why only 2 stars? The few times we had to amend the trust it cost almost $1000. These were not complicated changes... adding an asset, changing an address, etc. When first parent passed away we found out the fee to administer her part of the trust. Ouch! Over $25,000. To be clear, this was not an extremely large estate nor complicated trust involving any businesses, divorces, feuding heirs, etc. It was frustrating dealing with Morris Hall employees through the process: hard to know what was being done, when it would be done, etc. After second parent passed about six months later, and frustration continued, we sought another company. They dealt with Morris Hall on our behalf. The lawyer at Morris Hall maintained he had completed about 85% of administration required based on first parent's death, though could not provide any documentation of time or tasks. He also stated that it would require an equal additional fee to finish now that second parent had passed. We transferred administration to new company, and had them instruct Morris Hall to cease any further administration. This new firm completed the entire trust administration (from beginning, not building on anything Morris Hall firm may have done) and filed all relevant taxes for two years for about 20% of what Morris Hall was charging for only one parent. If you use Morris Hall, no doubt you will get everything handled properly. But from my experience you will pay dearly. Will the extra money get you anything above and beyond what you could get elsewhere? From my experience, only heartburn and regret.
