Much to my dismay, my husband's foray into the world of medical marijuana resulted in a desperate need for an attorney. I found Jessica McElfresh on the NORML website and, from the first phone call, found her to be direct and knowledgeable. We interviewed several lawyers and I ended up retaining her as my attorney. I am SO thankful that I did. She spent a lot of time on my case, collected her own evidence, managed a very difficult witness, and worked to get a deal that will result in a total dismissal of all the charges. She responded to emails nearly instantaneously - even after hours - and telephone calls in less than an hour. I also felt like she always gave me a fair assessment of how the case was progressing and what I could expect. She answered any question I had, even if it were only peripherally related to the case and researched some other issues I was also concerned about. My husband ended up working with two other attorneys, both of whom had more experience and were more expensive. Unfortunately, those two things did not guarantee a better attorney. In comparison, she was clearly the most knowledgeable about our case and the laws surrounding it, the easiest to contact, the most organized, and a real workhorse. She is confident in her skills and will aggressively fight (which might not be apparent just meeting her one-on-one - have no doubt, she's a fighter). If you find yourself in need of a criminal attorney, I'd say look no further - she turns all those bad lawyer stereotypes on their head!
