DON'T GIVE ELKE ANY MONEY UP FRONT! I retained Elke on Oct 3, 2019 to file a divorce petition for me and I paid her a retainer for the whole expected case. One year later, my wife and I reconciled. That was four years ago! I have been asking Elke ever since then to file for a dismissal of my petition. I have called Elke multiple times each year and she has said that she will do it, but she still has not. Sometimes Elke says that she will send me something to sign, and she doesn't. Other times Elke has said that she will get back to me in a day or two and never has. Sometimes Elke says that my wife and I will need to sign something together, which we don't. I paid a paralegal who told me that he can't help me with a dismissal because Elke is the one with my power of attorney and that Elke has the power to file for the dismissal herself. I am retaining a paralegal to assist me in writing and submitting a complaint to The State Bar of California. My wife and I love each other, but four years later we still don't have an end to the pending divorce case, nor a refund of our unused retainer. LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE!

She was my wife's lawyer, and because of how the case proceeded, I thought I would share my experience. My lawyer dreaded working with Gordon-Schardt, not because of her skill, but due to lack of responses to requests, and random behavior. In phone conferences, she forgot case specifics. She ignored requests from my lawyer and extended the case for many months. The only way to get her to respond was for me to quit giving my ex money. Also, in the end she added $2K in expenses to go directly to her for the bill, instead of to help pay my ex's part. She's making good money for not doing much.

Worse lawyer by far! She screwed up my divorce case which caused me to have to return to court 4 years after the divorce. I mistakenly hired her again thinking because she knew the case that’d be best. Nope, she dropped the ball again. She had her secretary work my ENTIRE case and was almost an hour late to both of my court dates which significantly effected the outcome of the trial. Then when I had a question about my bill she proceeds to insult my intelligence calling me stupid merely for asking questions. I DO NOT recommend her in the slightest. You’re better off representing yourself than going to her.
