I cannot thank Scott Smith & Denise enough for their efforts & Representation for our business. Lifesavers! Additionally, Heather Rooney McBride & her Team are top notch Estate Planners! Seeking legal counsel can be stressful but I can confidently say that RMS really delivers on their brand message.

0 stars. No. No. No. run fast or, be prepared to be ignored, billed exorbitant fees, nickeled and dimed for any little thing, be charged “finance fees” for bills never received, get charged for “processing fees” on a bill PAID IN FULL weeks after the bill was paid (oops we forgot to add the 2.5% credit card fee), wait weeks for a return email (if at all), go to court and have attorney not dispute OBVIOUS lies stated on the stand by opposing counsel and witnesses. I waited three weeks for a referral for an appeal attorney which never came even though I was told time is “VERY CRITICAL” (30 days to file appeal). Several weeks later I was sent a $5,000 retainer fee contract for “disillusion of marriage” which was to be argued along with the filing of Annulment. I provided so much evidence for our case and little (of any) was admitted. Change of venue hearing there wasn’t evidence admitted for domicile even though several letters, bills, and accounts show address. Mr Scholz sited outdated RSMo. in petitioning the court. He was warned about the other counsels antics and did nothing to thwart them. Good ole boys system at its best. I was thrown under the bus, feel the case was not represented fairly or accurately. But! The attorney was paid handsomely every month, on time. I can go on and on…

Great attorneys, However, their call back game has certainly gone downhill over the past 3 yrs I've been using them. I sure hope to see this change very soon!

I didn't retain anyone from here but I was sent here by a friend and referred to Austin. I can tell you, if I need a lawyer I will definitely be calling this firm back! From first contact with Jessica to Austin I couldn't have asked for better. Both were amazing! Austin took the time to actually talk to me, not over me. Addressed each concern with me and talked to me like an actual human not a subject. I felt comfortable, heard, and more confident after my phone consultation than I had with any other lawyer I had contacted (about 16). I will definitely be retaining Austin for anything I need in the future and will recommend him to anyone that may need legal services! You won't be disappointed!

DO NOT waste your time and hard earned money here. I was referred to an attorney here who probably does good work but he was too busy to take my case. My attorney was a nice enough guy but that doesn't excuse the business as a whole. The shady business practices of this attorney group as a whole is sickening. They will nickel and dime you to absolute death. Overpromise, underperform, and overcharge is the name of the game at Rooney McBride & Smith. I would be ashamed to have my name as the face of the business here. I highly suggest doing business elsewhere.

AAL general personal injury Frequently Asked Questions

What is personal injury law?

Personal injury law encompasses legal remedies and defenses involved in civil lawsuits brought as a result of wrongful conduct. It covers situations where someone's negligence or intentional actions cause harm to another person. Personal injury law allows injured individuals to seek compensation for their losses, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. This area of law often involves cases such as car accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice, and defective product injuries.

What is compensation for a personal injury claim?

Compensation for a personal injury claim typically includes monetary damages intended to compensate the injured party for their losses. This compensation can cover various aspects such as medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages or income, property damage, and pain and suffering. The goal is to provide financial relief to the injured person and help them recover from the physical, emotional, and financial impact of their injuries.

Is emotional distress a personal injury?

Emotional distress can be considered a personal injury under certain circumstances. In legal terms, emotional distress refers to the psychological impact of an injury or traumatic event, such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While it may not always involve physical harm, emotional distress can still be compensable in a personal injury claim if it can be linked to the defendant's actions or negligence.

What percentage do most personal injury lawyers take?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, which means they only get paid if they successfully recover compensation for their clients. Typically, personal injury lawyers take a percentage of the final settlement or court award as their fee. The percentage varies but commonly ranges from 33% to 40% of the total recovery. This arrangement allows injured individuals to pursue legal action without upfront costs and ensures that attorneys are motivated to achieve favorable outcomes for their clients.

How long does a personal injury lawsuit take?

The duration of a personal injury lawsuit can vary significantly depending on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the extent of the injuries, and the court's schedule. Some cases may be resolved through settlement negotiations relatively quickly, while others may take months or even years to reach a resolution, especially if they go to trial. Additionally, factors such as gathering evidence, conducting discovery, and waiting for medical treatment to conclude can influence the timeline of a personal injury lawsuit.

What is an example of a serious injury claim?

An example of a serious injury claim could involve catastrophic injuries that result in long-term or permanent disabilities, such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries leading to paralysis, severe burns, or limb amputations. These types of injuries often have significant and lasting effects on the victim's physical, emotional, and financial well-being, requiring extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing care. Serious injury claims typically seek substantial compensation to cover these extensive damages and provide for the victim's future needs.

What is compensation for a loss or injury?

Compensation for a loss or injury refers to the financial recovery awarded to an injured party in a legal proceeding. This compensation aims to restore the injured person to the position they were in before the injury occurred to the extent possible. It can include economic damages, such as medical expenses and lost wages, as well as non-economic damages for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life. The goal of compensation is to help the injured individual recover physically, emotionally, and financially from the consequences of their injury.

What is the highest personal injury settlement?

The highest personal injury settlement or verdict can vary greatly depending on the specific circumstances of the case, including the severity of the injuries, the extent of the damages, and the jurisdiction where the case is tried. Settlements and verdicts in personal injury cases have reached into the tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars in some instances, particularly in cases involving catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, or wrongful death. However, there is no fixed limit on the amount of compensation that can be awarded in a personal injury case, as each case is evaluated based on its unique factors and the applicable laws and precedents.
