Dear Mr. Imbrogno, I am writing this letter to you because I want to tell you what has been weighing on my mind. I was your client during a custody battle. You were supposed to be my representative. I wanted only my mother to have custody of me, and I made that very clear during our meetings. I stated that my father was abusive and I didn’t feel safe around him. You suggested that he and I must go to therapy together because he loves me. I told you very clearly that I did not want to see my father and that the only way I would attend a therapy session is if police arrested me and brought me to the session. I thought that would communicate to you how terrified I was to even be in the same room as my father, but you still pushed that we go through reunification therapy. And I wonder, because you’re supposed to be an advocate for children, how you decided not to listen to what I, as a child, wanted and needed in order to feel safe. For 8 years he was abusive and controlling to the point where I developed mental health issues. I told you how he treated me, that he made me feel horrible, and you still wanted me to see him. As a child advocate, you are supposed to be the voice for the child because they can’t represent themselves. You didn’t do your job. Even after my therapist told you that it wouldn’t be good for my mental health to see him, you still wanted me to. It has been over 3 years since I have seen my father, and without his abuse I have been able to heal and grow because I am much happier in my environment. I feel loved, respected, and secure without his presence. My mental health and grades have significantly improved and many people tell me how much happier and healthier I look since I have been away from my father. Recently, I was diagnosed with PTSD because of the abuse I endured for 8 years during what was supposed to be a happy childhood. I will have this condition for the rest of my life. I don’t know if you sided with my father because of his money, because he’s a man, or because you hate children, but you need to remember what your job is since you claim in your advertisement that your “main goal is to minimize the stress and strain that family problems may bring”. I'm very disappointed with this attorney, and after reading Phae Davison's review, my disappointment is validated. My daughter shared how much she didn't want to go to her father's house. It was written in the report, yet he did not advocate for her. I'm not sure what this attorney's purpose is if he's not going to help children. Also, he's very unorganized.
