Mark Cagle is a sorry excuse for a criminal defense attorney. My niece and our family retained him as her lawyer in a child molestation case that she was falsely charged.The trial was delayed for over 4 years.During that time Mark led us to believe he could win the case. He told us his fee, if the case went to trial, and we pay it in installments. At the final pretrial hearing the judge set a date for the trial. Mark attempted to get it delayed another 6 months, apparently because he was totally unprepared. He told my niece that he didn't think he could win and proposed to negotiate a plea bargain. This obviously blind sided us and we felt forced to accept the plea bargain, because Mark had already given up. So now my niece has to spend a year and a half in prison and years on probation and register as a sex offender because of an incompetent lawyer.
