Had a horrible experience using this firm to switch from a work visa to a student visa. They weren’t able to correctly interpret the immigration rules and submit the correct documents which resulted in a lot of complications. I eventually lost faith in them and got opinions from other lawyers. They were slow in submitting applications and waited till the every last day before replying to a legal notice. Save yourself the headache and look for another firm.

This is one of those firms that has figured out that corporations will spend $$$ on immigration consulting/help and they don't need to provide a very expedient experience to retain that help apparently. Billable hours are MILKED and processing times are terribly long. So long you will wonder why you even needed their help, you can often write up the justification for whatever you paid them to do faster than they can. I'm not sure why my company uses this firm. They literally make processes take MUCH longer than they would without their help for BASIC visa requests. I cannot recommend them at all.

Honestly, save yourself from the trouble and look elsewhere. They do not care about your case at all they don't even reply your most urgent emails. You only get more anxious day by day waiting for updates that they should have told you about a month ago. It's probably too much clutter in their office that they lose track of things easily. If you work with them, you will be the only person that really care about the case and you'd spend so much more time googling stuff and asking questions elsewhere. My company somehow works with this law firm so we have no other choices. They are incompetent.

I would NOT recommend this firm due to the low quality of their work product, the long time they would use to prepare the case, and the lack of communications/responsiveness. First, lack of efficiency and overpromise about the time that they would use. They seem have a pattern to overpromise you about their efficiency when they had reach out conversations with you. In the first reach out meeting, the partner told me that it would take 3 weeks to prepare the petition, but in the end it took them around 9 weeks-- this was after we submitted all the required documents. When we received the negative results from USCIS, the partner seems confident to help us file a response and said that would take "2 weeks or a bit more" to prepare the documents. But in the end, it took the firm another 9 weeks to prepare the response letter-- this was also after we submitted all the documents that they required. Second, quality of their work is low-- their work product needs so much edits and revisions. In the first petition, which was only 4 pages long and took them 9 weeks to prepare, a large amount of content needs to be filled when the first draft was done and they do not seem have read my background information before drafting. When we later prepare the response after USCIS denied the petition, they referred to wrong guidelines and did not present convincing arguments. My visa petition was finally denied by USCIS after half a year of waiting!! Third, lack of basic professional responsiveness/communication. During the course of the case preparation, I could never have a chance to reach out to the responsible lawyer by phone when I had questions. In fact, the only chance that I could talk directly with them is when we have the first introduction/reach out meeting to receive the case. After that, email is the only way to get in touch. However, for many times, they simply do not respond to my emails or significantly delay in responding emails. I sent simple questions or sought instructions from them in order to prepare documents. They could not respond to my emails after one or even two weeks. I think responsiveness is the least professional respect and ethic requirements to clients for any professionals, let alone lawyers. In sum, I have very bad experience with this firm and I do not recommend you to use it.

Please read most of the comments. My observations are exactly in line with them: Maggio Kattar (a) are slow in response, (b) provide and prepare incorrect documents, that include errors and mistakes, (c) often use old documents instead of revised or updated versions, (d) do not communicate pro-actively, and, most importantly, (e) do not inform you about changes in immigration law or current circustances. Jim Alexander is the worst immigration attorney you can find anywhere - maybe the other few with Maggio Kattar are better. But Jim and his paralegals are role models in how NOT to treat a client, especially Jim himself. Their credo: Charge a lot, work little, make mistakes, don't care. Plus, he is baded in CA which adds three hous of time difference to his response. This is already a hastle when you're at the US East Coast, but especially when you're abroard.
