Last November, I was laid off from my job after working for eight years on an H-1B visa (with an approved i-140). Anyone who has faced this unfortunate situation knows how drastically life can change overnight after losing a job while on an H-1B. Yes, there is a 60-day grace period, but given the holiday season and year-end slowdown, securing a new job and completing an H-1B transfer within that timeframe is incredibly challenging, if not nearly impossible.
