After multiple times of Melissa not giving me a heads up with some very urgent issues, meaning I had less than 8 hours to complete things or deliver a check for my daughter to be seen by a counselor, I voiced my concerns and asked her to have someone in her office call me with urgent issues. I also told her son Matt, that I was concerned that all the charges on my invoice were to inform the other party what had just happened in court. She dropped me as a client, and when I called her receptionist about when I could come by and pick up all of my court documents, if it would take a week or a month (all they had to do was give me my court documents, nothing else) she said she didn’t know. I then asked if it could be a year because I really needed them for the person I had lined up to look over my case she said she didn’t know. I felt like I was talking to a high school girl. Super unprofessional, and I had to basically proof read and edit everything Maria Ortiz sent me. So if you want to pay people and then have to do all the work, and deal with people with the emotional maturity of a teenager, then they’re your people.

Writing on behalf of a very dear person to me who against his better judgement decided to hire this lawyer. The amount of grief and unfinished work she did is a bitter shame. Save your money and hire someone who will do actual work and actually help their clients win. If I could put minus 5 stars I would. It’s really a shame all she did was charging insane amount of money and nothing has been done to help her client. There’s better lawyers out there just make sure you do your research first.

I had reached out to at least 4 other attorneys and all were months out. At our first meeting I was so impressed with her attentiveness as I described my situation. I felt bad for bothering her on a weekend and told her such, she replied, "this is exactly the reason that clients have my cell phone. Don't worry about bothering me on the weekend." That to me is above and beyond! I'm so thankful for Melissa and her expertise in navigating family law and her willingness to not drag every little thing before the court. She will reach out to the other party and try a resolution through conversation and negotiation. Usually with a good outcome. The only time things weren't moved forward was because the other party was obstructive, unprofessional and inefficient or educated on best practices concerning family law.
