I paid for an initial consultation. After that consultation, I paid an additional retainer but was still reviewing the formal payment agreement. I was told in very clear terms that work would not start until they received the signed payment agreement. I decided I did not agree to have them represent me and did not sign the payment agreement. I was refunded the retainer, but it was minus fees for 'professional services'. The bill includes a fee for preparing the payment agreement that was subsequently waived. I feel like the firm's payment agreement prep fee should be on the firm, so not sure why it was included in the first place and then waived. The bill includes charges that were not waived for 'researching'. I feel like the payment agreement should be signed before charges are made (minus the initial consultation that I agreed to, of course), and also they even said they wouldn't start until they received the signed payment agreement. He also sent me my file from his office, which includes emails that he has sent me that had my email address misspelled (so I never received them). I hope I shared little more than the facts - please draw you own conclusions from my experience.

Mr. Cohen is knowledgeable of the law and does a good job attacking the other party in case. However, he will tend to want to extend the court process which will only cost you more money. We spent approx. $10K with him and if we hadn't let both lawyers get together to extend our case, we would have spent less. Also, he uses an underhanded method of not asking you to sign off for his services. As a result, you will get a bill for around $700 - $800 for him doing absolutely nothing a month after your case is settled. This practice of swindling money out of his clients that have hired him, and chosen to put their trust in him is a very bad practice. I would not recommend using the Law Offices of Fredrick S. Cohen. Look elsewhere and do your research, most are not really trustworthy.

I came into contact with Rick and his team to help with visitation for my kids. From the beginning he was very clear about my expectations and how he could assist me. Him and his team were very responsive and kept me aware of everything that was happening. I wish I would have used them for the divorce because I know the outcome would have been much more equitable. Thank you Rick and the rest of the team for making me feel so supported during a very difficult time in my life.

Mr. Cohen is the best. He took my impossible case and turned it into a successful outcome. I thought he was a little gruff at first, but he knows what to do to get the best results. There is no winner in family law, and it is not a good experience, but Mr. Cohen made the best of a bad situation. He was the third lawyer I had in my case, and I wish he had been the first. Thank you, Mr. Cohen! - Tim L.
