I was involved in a legal matter with Kristine Cummings during my divorce, and my main concern stemmed from the actions of my ex-spouse's trustee, Jon Lydell. I felt that Jon acted unfairly and disrespectfully after I initiated the divorce due to infidelity. Unfortunately, Kristine made false accusations of harassment against me, further complicating the situation. As a result, I had to distance myself from my ex-spouse for a period of time. Initially, my ex-spouse and I had agreed to an amicable divorce, with her stating that she didn't want alimony, my retirement, or my pension. However, Jon Lydell, acting as her trustee, negotiated with Kristine Cummings and pushed them to pursue a portion of my retirement, which I felt was unnecessary and unfair. This strained our relationship and destroyed any chance of maintaining a friendship post-divorce. I found Jon Lydell's behavior to be unethical, and I believe he misrepresented the situation, which led to an unfair outcome. While my lawyer mentioned that Kristine Cummings was a fair attorney, I didn't share that opinion. In my experience, she did not help facilitate a fair resolution. Although my ex-spouse and I had grown apart, I felt that the legal process painted me in a negative light rather than working toward an equitable settlement. I believe Jon Lydell acted out of greed, and his approach throughout the process was manipulative. Kristine Cummings and Jon Lydell should be held accountable by the state bar. It seemed unnecessary for Jon, as my ex-spouse's former legal guardian, to have such control over her trust money. His involvement was overbearing and unethical. While I no longer practice religion, I value ethics and respect--qualities that were severely lacking in this case. Jon's lies during the divorce process ruined what could have been an amicable ending. I only wish my ex-spouse had stood up for herself instead of allowing Jon to control the situation. To make matters worse, Kristine Cummings refused to arrange a mediation meeting with my ex-spouse and my lawyer. This felt unprofessional and was a missed opportunity for resolution.

Kristine has helped my elderly father with a very difficult divorce in a middle of the pandemic. Choosing to work with her was the best decision we could have made. Throughout the process, Kristine was professional, action-oriented, knowledgeable, transparent and very supportive. She was available for any questions and was always easy to reach. She has moved the case forward quickly and was able to come to a favorable resolution in a quick and efficient manner. Her goal was to avoid going into a trial and she has succeeded. It took less than a year to reach an agreement and to have the final papers signed. She and her staff went above and beyond in helping my father with many aspects of going through the legal process, as well as re-establishing his life. Her paralegal Valerie and the assistant Sophie were always there to help. We felt like we were in good hands. Kristine charged fair fees and she had an invoice sent to us monthly. At the end, the cost of the divorce was lower than what we have anticipated. Kristine did a superb job and I highly recommend her as a Family Law Attorney practicing in Sacramento.
