I had a terrible experience with Halligan LLC during my high-conflict divorce. This predatory firm took advantage of me, charging exorbitant fees far above local attorneys who would have done a better job. For months, communication was virtually non-existent while they continued to bill me. I was given just one day’s notice to testify at a temporary orders hearing, and they threw together my court documents in the last 48 hours. In the lead-up, I received no meaningful updates or support, only empty reassurances. The June 2024 court appearance was a disaster. The magistrate dismissed our exhibits immediately, irritated by my attorney's lack of preparation. Michele even argued about stipulated agreements that could've been checked beforehand. When I tried to give feedback afterward, she yelled at me on the phone until she lost her voice—an appalling display of unprofessionalism. My ex’s attorney even expressed sympathy, knowing my case was poorly handled. Gavin convinced me to fight for 100% custody based on a DV conviction, despite knowing a judge wouldn’t rule that way, because 50/50 custody had already been established. I found this out only after spending nearly $50,000 on Halligan alone, and facing a disastrous hearing. Two $15,000 retainers, and $9000 for discovery alone. Michele admitted she was too busy to focus on my case but later denied saying this and deflected blame elsewhere. I received little to no preparation for my testimony and struggled as a result. Instead of taking responsibility, they blamed the judges for the outcome, despite their clear lack of knowledge and/or anticipation about the court system and my DV case. Throughout this ordeal, I heard more from their accounting department than from my attorneys, revealing their priority was billing, not quality representation. I was robbed blind. Gavin, who came highly recommended by a friend, failed to support me after the disastrous hearing. Their billing hours showed they only spent one week working on my case, despite having months to prepare. To add insult to injury, Gavin charged me extra for lengthy emails defending their poor efforts. I eventually had to cut off communication due to rising costs, yet they placed a $7,000 lien on me. Gavin made zero attempts to call me, hear my side or make things right. Her doubling down and blaming me is outrageous. Attorneys like this give a bad name to all attorneys. They are overpriced predators that shouldn’t be in business. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, look elsewhere for legal representation.
