Exactly a year ago tomorrow, April 10, on a Sunday last year, I walked out a doorway that had an unmarked threshold with a drop. I stumbled and landed on my foot at an odd angle which resulted in a break in the bones in 2 places, and shattered bone on the other side. The doorway appeared to have previously had some sort of marked tape that had worn away, and the dangers of the drop were apparently known to staff, and had previously resulted in other falls and accidents.

After getting through the trauma, the ER and pain of that day, through a friend I was referred to Nicole Miller the next day. She was immediately attentive to my situation, and importantly, as I am only a part-time resident who was due to fly 2 days later, was able to get me an appointment with a fantastic orthopedist in Boca on Wednesday the same week! That connection and then an expedited appointment for an MRI, made all the difference in my care and getting a new cast put on.

As we worked on my case for the following 9 months, Nicole and her paralegal, Lucia, were empathetic, thorough and caring while I went through a tough recovery and pt. They communicated consistently with me as they gathered medical records, negotiated and advocated for me with the venue owners. Though they do this all the time, it was difficult and emotional for me. But they were helpful I'm guiding me every step of the way.
