After meeting with other firms in the area, I felt discouraged and alone with our case. When we met with Ms. Otto, I was relieved to finally feel like our family's case was a priority. After our initial meeting, we worked closely with Ms. Wolfe. She was easy to reach, approachable, capable, and thorough. Before our case was heard in court, I was apprehensive and nervous-- I'd never been in a hearing. Ms. Wolfe was able to explain what to expect and during lulls while we were waiting, she easily conversed with members of our family. That really stuck with me after trying to do this by myself for so long. If you do decide to meet with Otto, keep in mind that they do charge a refundable fee for the initial consultation. There is a retainer fee if you decide to move forward. I do appreciate regular "invoices" that show what has been billed to the fee. This seems like a normal process, but I haven't found this to be a common practice in the rural part of the state! Compared to other lawyers I've worked with, Otto is straight forward, upfront about their billing, open to communication, and easily provide updates to our case and filings (without me having to call or email!).

Lawyers have a way with telling you what you want to hear. Then saying they want to withdraw as your representative you when things do not go the way they should have gone. Especially when that was how they were going to get paid. I know if I did a crappy job at work I wouldn't be there too much longer, when you are a lawyer of course it isn't their fault. You ask for a bull and get a kitten, that wants the bulls food. If you are disabled forget it. Not 1 person understood, asked questions or attempted to listen to what I needed to be able to qualify for treatments and care that I was getting before the hearing. I get that things do not always go as planned or in your favor. However this firm was not fighting for me. I had asked several times for an offer or to get the information that i needed to make one to my ex. They never even tried they just wanted to rack up the billable hrs. They don't care about the asset level, maintenance amount and if you will still be able to receive help no matter how many times you have told them. Hopefully my case will open their ears a little better so they can understand what their clients actually need. Plus i was emailed someone elses court documents. Off to write a grievance letter to the state on this one. Definitely not a recommendation.

There are only 5 stars need 10 for -10! What a joke of a law firm. We are in Colorado sent via email 8-28-2024 oral ruling order, red line draft stipulation, Emails pertaining to PC. Lawyer is apparently $375.00 per hour and her consults are not free, they need to be. Otto, gets on zoom call (daughter lost 5 hours of work, who cares right?) today is 9-5-2024 and she has not read the oral ruling nor the red line draft stipulation to get a grasp on the case . She is trying to read a 45 page oral ruling along with a 4 or 5 page red line draft, but has had these documents in her possession for 7 days while on a 1 hour zoom call charging $375. She had no idea what the concerns and needs are, as our other lawyers have just been playing busy work, but nothing filed in the court for over 2 years for the PC that the Judge ordered. Then Otto is the icing on the cake and says so you want a PC? No, the Judge wants a PC it is in her oral order. Ten minutes has passed while you are watching a head go from side to side face close to her screen trying to decipher a 45 page ruling and red line stipulation and I said why don't we re-group when you can actually read the judges oral order and red line stipulation draft, as this is a waste of time. And she said why don't I just give you back your money, (oh you have to pay her ahead of time for one hour of her great detective work) and I may not be the lawyer for you. I said ya, you are not our lawyer. I am Tax Accountant and my daughter works for the IRS as a Tax Collector and the preparedness I take on with convoluted tax issues, I have the potential client send all documents I request, I go over them and then we have a FREE consult and I go over everything. This was a joke and my daughter lost 5 hours of paid work today, because some Lawyers are sooooo full of themselves, their egos can't fit through the door!!! Buyer Beware!!!! Cash machine of charges for nothing!

I can't say enough good things about Otto Family Law. Lauren is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She has given me more peace of mind than I have had in a long time. She definitely is a straight shooter and will tell you how it is, and she has a very on fire personality to get the job done. Our family case may still be ongoing, but I fully trust that her firm will do their best to help me in every way possible. Brenna Wolfe is a newer attorney who also joined their team and specializes in Family Law. She has been a great co-counsel to Lauren and takes as much initiative to get the job done. Brenna has more of a calm demeanor, but with the fire Lauren brings they make a great team! I am very confident they will continue to work hard for my case and fight for all the right reasons. I don't know what I'd do without their guidance. Thank you Otto Family Law!!!

Otto & Steiner Law is the perfect place to handle your family law needs in the Eau Claire/NW Wisconsin area. Attorney Lauren Otto and her team are professional, skilled, organized, and understanding of the challenges that can come with family related matters, regardless of the complexity of your case. From the first consultation appointment through the conclusion of the case, they are there for you every step of the way and do an excellent job explaining the process, helping set realistic expectations, and giving their all to achieve the best possible outcome for you and your family. Their office is very team-oriented and you can always count on someone being able to help you with your situation in a timely and reassuring manner. They make dealing with tough issues like divorce and custody disputes less overwhelming and do a fantastic job working for your wants and needs. The team is competent, friendly, and do an excellent job explaining what is happening in your case. I have nothing but great things to say about Attorney Otto and her entire team/office as a whole. I would with a doubt recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for help and guidance with their family law needs.
