My attorney for my divorce played "Wordle" in court, constantly read the news, did not communicate well, lacked case managment skills, mismanged evidence, was late to court, rushed me to make terrible agreements that we could "change later" but then "later" told me it was court order and could do nothing, disregarded my concerns about my ex wife's storied history of mental health issues and child neglect/abuse, offered zero competent legal analysis/advice, dismissed the safety of my children, failed to follow court orders, rushed me away to flirt with women in the halls of the courthouse, and failed to disclose that he was going through a divorce himself and did not have the proper headspace to effectively represent me. He said he would not "get revenge" against my ex, but in practice, he was not going to work in my best interest or the best interest of my family but still wanted to get paid for nominal effort. He wanted to close the case with as little resistance as possible ("not getting revenge" equated to not defending me). Accountability is different than getting revenge but he would not seek to hold her accoutable. He did not know that Healthcare and Child Care were mandatory deductions for child support, and deferred to "case law" instead of the actual RI child support policies. It seems like this was his first divorce case. I'm devastated and disappointed because I trusted him to do the right thing, not the convenient thing.

Would not recommend this law firm to anyone! Brian Tavares basically did nothing / said nothing to represent his client in a child custody case regarding my grandchild! One meeting with him prior to court & they swiped my card got their fee & nothing until the day before court! My son had accomplished more on his own before retaining this Attorney who basically set him back to square one! Did not Advocate for the client! I had a gut instinct the first time I met him and I should of listened to it! If your looking for an attorney this firm is not it!
