I used Barbara for a difficult child custody case. When it came to work being done outside of court she and her team were great. Inside the court room, she always seemed unprepared like she was winging it. This was my first time having to use a lawyer for anything so I was unfamiliar with how things worked. The communication in regards to my case was extremely lacking. I would just be in limbo, but I assumed she was just working on my case and would reach out when need be. Prior to my trial I had no prep. When I told her I’ve never been to court before she assured me I would be fine and that I wouldn’t need prep. She sent the questions she planned to ask in court to me 2 hours prior to court. I became extremely overwhelmed because I had no clue where she was going with my case and now no time to really ask. When I called my witnesses the day of the court date, one said that she was only contacted one time about the trial and never heard from Barbara again the second one said she received her first call the day prior to the trial. That was the moment I knew my case was going down hill. On the court date, Barbara just seemed like she wasn’t all there. She seemed tired and her suit was wrinkled. I was extremely ill prepared which was embarrassing for me because I prep for things. I’m not upset that I lost although I do believe there would have been a fighting chance if my team was prepared, I’m just disappointed with the service received. I have a second trial to just finalize visitation and decided to switch attorneys. I didn’t want to risk losing any more than I already had because of a lawyer that was timid in court.

Barbara has been my lawyer (and my families lawyer) for the last 15+ years and I have recommended her to many friends in need of a family lawyer. In my extremely complex child custody situation, Barbara and her team have gone above and beyond to make sure I was heard and I received even better than expected results. She is extremely professional, detail oriented and well respected in court. Will forever recommend her and use her for any future issues. Thank you Barbara and team for all that you’ve done for my girl and I!

Excellent customer service at a reasonable rate. I felt like she made my case a priority. Her and her team are very knowledgeable and always addressed my concerns in a timely manner. She is professional and puts time in to really know your case. I had alot of anxiety about court and she helped me to feel more at ease. You can tell she truly cares about her clients and is very passionate about what she does. I was very satisfied with her services and recommend her to anyone seeking counsel.

Barbara was hired for my divorce case. She never had time to meet with me before the court dates, never wanted to do any show causes, but I ended up going to court 18 times to defend myself. Yes defend myself. She wasn’t able to review the information I had for her prior so we both looked like idiots compared to the other well prepared attorney. She left very significant things out of my decree that were discussed and she “forgot” to include them and signed without my consent on my behalf. I honestly wouldn’t recommend her to my worst enemy. She apparently has too many cases & not enough time. Always an excuses as to why she couldn’t meet with me although I was still paying her to represent me. She did not finish the paperwork necessary for me to obtain benefits from the military because I asked her if it was possible if we could “get it together” before we went to court.

Barbara was efficient and quick to act on my case. The severity of my custody case included a great amount of abuse physically and through the judicial system. After firing one attorney and dealing with a negligent Commonweath attorney in Portsmouth, I finally got the assistance I needed through Barbara. She was the first to educate me on what a vexatious litigant is and was able to successfully get this order put in place so my child's father could no longer abuse me through the legal sysytem. I am so grateful for her and would recommend her to anyone.
