A deposition is the question-and-answer of witnesses that happens outside of court but still under oath. Depositions may be taken of lay or expert witnesses. If you have one coming up, your attorney (or one of the attorneys on the case if the case is not yours) will likely prepare you beforehand so that you know what to expect.
