I have a policy thru my employer on my ex-husband, current domestic partner. He passed suddenly in September from small cell lung cancer. Prudiential keeps asking for same paperwork further delaying the claim payment. I paid the final expenses with my credit card that is now a $350/mo bill due to interest charges. Will Prudiential be liable for interest charges on this claim?

It’s hard to answer that question without seeing the policy itself and not knowing what the claim is for. Is it for funeral expenses or something that is covered in his policy? If so, chances are they might only be liable for that cost versus any interest that is building up. But again, I can’t say for sure without reviewing the policy. Insurance companies notoriously don’t want to pay out claims and make it as difficult as they possibly can. It seems like Prudential is doing this, so you may want to get an insurance attorney to help. They’ll know how to navigate the system better and sometimes that is all it takes to get things moving faster. At the very least, you can have a consultation to see if they can advise you on how to get this claim approved.
