Generally, yes – with some exceptions. The law in New York State is that radar and laser detectors cannot be used in, “any motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than eighteen thousand pounds or in any commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than ten thousand pounds. Most personal passenger vehicles fall under that weight limit. You can't, however, have anything that interferes with radio transmission.
