Inyo County is home to one of the most diverse areas of land in California. Half of the county is located in Death Valley National Park. The other half runs through Sierra Nevada. It is also home to what is known as the highest peak in the lower 48 and the lowest point on the continent.
The climate in the county is varied due to its geographical location. It can experience temperatures as high as 105 degrees Fahrenheit and colder mountaintops that can see snowfalls of up to five feet per day. The county also includes the Palisade Glacier and Owens Valley, Inyo National Forests, Rock Creek Canyon, the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, and Inyo National Forests.
