Tyson Foods Inc. now owns Waldron's poultry industry, which was established by Arkansas Valley Poultry back in the 1960s. It employs the most people in town. They have successfully integrated Hispanics, Asians, and other minorities into the local culture and school system. The town has always had a low number of African Americans. Waldron was home to the lumber and poultry industries, but also had a high-tech industry called STI/Thermo Fisher Environmental Industries that made air pollution monitoring equipment. Various furniture manufacturers provided employment over the years, but all of them have since closed.
The Waldron Commercial Historic District includes the Old Scott County Jail, the Old Scott County Courthouse, and a variety of properties on the National Register of Historic Places. The C. E. Forrester House is located nearby, on Danville Street. Two buildings from the early 20th century that were used for education are part of the Waldron School Historic Area.
