Asa P. Robinson founded Conway shortly after the Civil War. Robinson was the chief engineer of the Little Rock-Fort Smith Railroad. Robinson was also compensated with a deed to a one-square-mile tract of land near Cadron. Robinson gave a small piece of his land to the railroad as a depot site when the railroad arrived. Robinson created a small town around the depot and called it "Conway Station" in honor of a prominent Arkansas family. Conway Station had two small shops, two saloons, and a depot. It also included temporary housing and an office. Although Conway Station was founded as a railroad community, it does not have passenger service. The emphasis on the automobile is responsible for the disappearance of passenger train service in the area.
