Enterprise was struck by a tornado that occurred during the tornado outbreak of February-March 2007. It happened in the afternoon on March 1. The worst disaster in Enterprise's history, the tornado claimed nine lives and injured more than 121 others.
Enterprise High School suffered the most severe damage, with eight students dying after a hallway collapsed. Ryan Mohler and Andrew Jackson were the students who died. Kathryn Strunk was the only casualty. Edna Strickland was the last victim. The downtown area was ravaged by a quarter-mile-wide fire, with at least 371 houses either destroyed or damaged. After the disaster, the National Guard was summoned to the scene. A curfew from dusk-to dawn was implemented. The county was declared a disaster zone by President Bush when he arrived on March 3. AmeriCorps sent a team to the city to assist in disaster relief and to organize.
The high school was going to be moved to Boll Weevil Circle's west end. It was to be rebuilt at a cost of more than $80,000,000. The students had to attend school at the local community college until then. There, trailers were used for adding classrooms. On August 23, 2010, the high school was reconstructed and reopened.
