Once you turn 18, you are an adult in the eyes of the law. This means your parents are no longer responsible for you. In some states, parents hold a revocable license to stay with their kids – meaning they can revoke that at any time without notice. In other states, they give kids the same rights as they would in a landlord-tenant situation, in which you need 30 day’s notice. Check your local laws to see which applies to you, and you can always consult a housing attorney if you are concerned.

If I turn 18, can my parents legally evict me from their home without giving me any prior notice or providing alternative arrangements?
