About Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville was ranked third in terms of national economic growth in 2017 and was named by Freddie Mac realtors the "hottest housing market" in the US. According to census estimates, Nashville was the most populated city in Tennessee in May 2017. Nashville's "homelessness crisis" has been a national topic. The opioid crisis and rising housing prices have led to more people living on the streets. As of 2018, there were between 2,300-20,000 homeless Nashvillians.

Due to felony charges against Mayor Barry in relation to the misuse of public funds, she resigned on March 6, 2018. A special election was called. The Davidson County Election Commission called a special election. This was in accordance with the Tennessee Supreme Court's ruling. David Briley was Vice Mayor under Barry and Acting Mayor following her resignation. He won the special election with just more than 54% of the vote. He is now the 70th mayor of Nashville.
