Maumelle was established as a first-class municipality on June 20, 1985. According to the 2010 census, the city had a population of 17,163. Local residents can access Pine Forest Elementary School, Maumelle Middle school, and Academic Plus charter schools. Many students attend private schools in Little Rock/North Little Rock and public schools within North Little Rock, Little Rock, and Pulaski county Special school districts.
