According to the National Archives post office form, Queen Creek was once known as "Rittenhouse" in the beginning. This is the community that grew out of a railroad station. C. H. Rittenhouse founded Queen Creek Farms Company in 1919. He built the railroad stop to transport the goods from the farm. Queen Creek, the creek that gave rise to its name, flows through Queen Canyon. It was originally named "Picket Post Creek".
