Called twice to get info (so I can get the decision to my agent) I provided info to the front desk asking for a call back. Called the next day in the afternoon after being told someone will call me. Again I was promised a call back but was told if I was in a rush to call another office. I explained the closing is in August and I had a couple questions. I asked if someone could talk to me about what the cost are and service provided and she said no they are too busy but when they are not busy closing they will call. I asked for a idea on when and she said when they are not busy dealing with closings. The manner was terrible and if your too busy to be bothered by answering basic questions then that’s your call. Normally most people accept who ever the realtors suggest and that perhaps has allowed this company to get too comfortable and no longer find it needed to earn customers since they get them freely by the agents. I highly suggest you not use this company. Five minutes after the last call where I said fine if you can’t give me a window of when I might get a call I will move on and post my experience on social media. The lawyer calls and threatens me “I just got a disturbing message that you are going to slander us” not a hello or how can I help or clarify just a hostile undertone and the inserting of the word slander. I stoped her and stated “stop, I never used the word slander and simply said I would share my truth and dissatisfaction on social media and your inserting of words could not be more inaccurate” . In my opinion this is not a office that warrants my business and perhaps yours as well. Our Military community deserves better.

I paid this firm to represent me due to the fact I now live outside of North Carolina. After everything I really wish I would have flown in a dealt with everything myself because over a year after the hearing was “done” I’m still having to deal with matters involving the case and all the firm that took my money had to say was “we completed our obligation...” so happy I paid someone to take care of this matter when I’m the one doing the leg work.

After having my case for a year and a half and nothing being done, I hired a new lawyer. Now he is telling my new lawyer that he cannot find my file. We have to start from scratch. No way to run a professional law office. I am so upset.

AAL general personal injury Frequently Asked Questions

What is personal injury law?

Personal injury law encompasses legal remedies and defenses involved in civil lawsuits brought as a result of wrongful conduct. It covers situations where someone's negligence or intentional actions cause harm to another person. Personal injury law allows injured individuals to seek compensation for their losses, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. This area of law often involves cases such as car accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice, and defective product injuries.

What is compensation for a personal injury claim?

Compensation for a personal injury claim typically includes monetary damages intended to compensate the injured party for their losses. This compensation can cover various aspects such as medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages or income, property damage, and pain and suffering. The goal is to provide financial relief to the injured person and help them recover from the physical, emotional, and financial impact of their injuries.

Is emotional distress a personal injury?

Emotional distress can be considered a personal injury under certain circumstances. In legal terms, emotional distress refers to the psychological impact of an injury or traumatic event, such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While it may not always involve physical harm, emotional distress can still be compensable in a personal injury claim if it can be linked to the defendant's actions or negligence.

What percentage do most personal injury lawyers take?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, which means they only get paid if they successfully recover compensation for their clients. Typically, personal injury lawyers take a percentage of the final settlement or court award as their fee. The percentage varies but commonly ranges from 33% to 40% of the total recovery. This arrangement allows injured individuals to pursue legal action without upfront costs and ensures that attorneys are motivated to achieve favorable outcomes for their clients.

How long does a personal injury lawsuit take?

The duration of a personal injury lawsuit can vary significantly depending on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the extent of the injuries, and the court's schedule. Some cases may be resolved through settlement negotiations relatively quickly, while others may take months or even years to reach a resolution, especially if they go to trial. Additionally, factors such as gathering evidence, conducting discovery, and waiting for medical treatment to conclude can influence the timeline of a personal injury lawsuit.

What is an example of a serious injury claim?

An example of a serious injury claim could involve catastrophic injuries that result in long-term or permanent disabilities, such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries leading to paralysis, severe burns, or limb amputations. These types of injuries often have significant and lasting effects on the victim's physical, emotional, and financial well-being, requiring extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing care. Serious injury claims typically seek substantial compensation to cover these extensive damages and provide for the victim's future needs.

What is compensation for a loss or injury?

Compensation for a loss or injury refers to the financial recovery awarded to an injured party in a legal proceeding. This compensation aims to restore the injured person to the position they were in before the injury occurred to the extent possible. It can include economic damages, such as medical expenses and lost wages, as well as non-economic damages for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life. The goal of compensation is to help the injured individual recover physically, emotionally, and financially from the consequences of their injury.

What is the highest personal injury settlement?

The highest personal injury settlement or verdict can vary greatly depending on the specific circumstances of the case, including the severity of the injuries, the extent of the damages, and the jurisdiction where the case is tried. Settlements and verdicts in personal injury cases have reached into the tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars in some instances, particularly in cases involving catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, or wrongful death. However, there is no fixed limit on the amount of compensation that can be awarded in a personal injury case, as each case is evaluated based on its unique factors and the applicable laws and precedents.
