My case was about a potentially fraudulent surrogacy agency in Irvine who scammed me $16,800. Bruce sounded optimistic during the phone consultation. That's the only reason I signed the retainer agreement to use their legal service. But then he handed my case to his business partner who is not even part of his company, someone named Bradford Calvin Attorney at Law that is a 1-man business, although he did give me a heads-up before the handover. The new attorney charged me consultation fee for 45-minute conversation on the phone although I already had free consultation with Bruce before that, and the actual phone call was only 38 minutes according to the call logs on my cell phone. Then he made this demand letter with a bunch of errors and typos. For example, he made the date on the letter August 2, 2023 when it was meant to be September 2, 2024 as we are in 2024. The zip code of the scammer the letter was addressed to was wrong. I sent him 2 photocopies of the 2 checks I paid to the scammer and there were dates on them. Yet again, he put the wrong dates in the demand letter. Then he even misspelled "lower" as "lover". That really raised my concern about someone's professionalism. I had to correct all of this mistakes and send him back the revised version of the demand letter. Then he charged me for correcting his mistakes. Why am I paying for somebody's mistakes? I thought that was ridiculous. So eventually I had to ask them to drop my case. Then they sent me the last bill charging me for emailing me a brief case update, which is no update. I let some of my friends who have professional career read the demand letter and they all thought it was very weak. Again, I did not use this law firm's legal service although I signed up with them and intended to use their service but they passed my case to someone else that I thought was really sloppy.
