All I can say is pray that if she is appointed GAL of your kid she likes you or is not snowed by the other side. She had her mind made up from the beginning and nothing could change her mind regardless what the other side said or did. I am told she is usually good but I'll tell you.... she got it so wrong in my case. My daughter told me today If there's a round 2 she wants a new GAL bc Jessica did not listen to her . She told me she could tell Jessica didn't like me and that when she would make it clear she was not bothered by stuff Jessica insisted was a trigger,she was not listened to. My 18 year old son was angry bc when he was called, she asked very specific questions that turned out to be whatever she needed to push her agenda and own opinions. Hands down the worst GAL I've ever experienced, and I work with them. Every single day. Am I bitter?! Absolutely. She got it wrong and my daughter will suffer bc of it.

We hired Jessica Burns about 9 years ago. The actual client was my girlfriend at the time, and she had issues with a number of things like recall of dates and time, as well as trouble communicating. I would recommend Jessica Burns for any type of family law she is very passionate with her cases she takes on. I hired her in the middle of a case and she had to take her time and go in and fix my past attorneys mistakes and refile everything she was very up front with how the case could turn out but she took into consideration everyone of my concerns as did her paralegal lisa. Everytime I called lisa knew exactly who I was and listened about everything I had to say I always got a very quick response on everything. I ended up with a very reasonable custody outcome from the trial lisa and Jessica prepared Jessica fought in court for my son and I will forever be thankful for her and for lisa for all the hard work that was put into my case.

I met with Ms. Burns for a free consultation in Dec 2016 and then hired her to represent me in my divorce. When I hired her she did not tell me that she would be taking off for almost 2 weeks during the Holidays. I called many times to talk to Ms. Burns about my case as I did not think it was moving forward, but was always told she was not available for an appointment. I finally fired Ms. Burns and had another attorney help me and was divorced within a couple of weeks. The best thing about her practice is her Paralegal Lisa. She was always very helpful and apologetic.
