About Springfield, Illinois

Springfield, Illinois' capital city, is located in central Illinois' Sangamon County. It is located on the banks of the Sangamon River and is well-known for its rich history and cultural attractions. Springfield is most famous for being the home of Abraham Lincoln, the former President of the United States. He lived and worked here for many years before his presidency.
