The Dan River tributaries drain the northeast section of Forsyth County. This includes Belews Creek, Walkertown, Kernersville, and parts of Rural Hall. Kernersville lies in the Cape Fear River basin. The Yadkin River tributaries drain most of the county, which forms the county's western boundary. The county's lowest elevation is 660 feet on the Yadkin River in the southwest corner. The highest elevation is 1100 feet at Jefferson Church Road, just south of King.
