Kansas City was "old" in October 1872. By order of Judge Hiram Stephens of the Tenth Judicial District on October 22, 1872, the first city election took place. It resulted in James Boyle being elected Mayor. After the organization of the city, its mayors were C. A. Eidemiller and A. S. Orbison. Eli Teed was also elected. John St. John, Governor of Kansas, declared Kansas City a second-class city in June 1880. Mayor McConnell was also present.
The consolidation of five cities, "old" Kansas City (Kansas), Armstrong, Armourdale, and Riverview led to the creation of "new" Kansas City. Wyandotte is the oldest of the group. It was founded in 1857 by Wyandot Native Americans as well as Methodist missionaries.
