Defective Home Electronics Linked to Fires, Burns, Electrocution Injuries
Thousands of people are injured or killed each year in accidents involving defective home electronics. Televisions, stereos, CD and DVD players, and other types of consumer electronics may catch fire or overheat, causing burns and other injuries to consumers and property damage.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the recall of many defective consumer electronics, but in most cases, potentially dangerous products are not identified and removed from the market until some users have reported problems or injuries associated with the products. For these consumers, the recall comes too late.
Consumers injured by defective home electronics or other defective products may be able to obtain financial compensation from the makers of the products for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and other damages. The loved ones of people killed by defective home electronics may qualify for wrongful death damages intended to compensate them for their devastating loss.

Some of the most common types of consumer electronics include:
• Cordless and cellular phones
• Stereos
• Televisions
• Computers
• CD players and tape decks
