“Bobby Chupete” Pacifiers Recalled Due to Choking Hazard

About 641,000 “Bobby Chupete” pacifiers are being recalled because the mouth guard is too small and poses a threat of choking to infants and toddlers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

There have been no reports of injuries or incidents of choking reported associated with the recalled pacifiers, which were made in China and imported by Grand World Inc. of Maspeth, N.Y., according to the CPSC’s recall notice.

Sadly, defective products are a leading cause of injury and death in children in the United States. Each year, thousands of children suffer injuries caused by defectively dangerous toys, cribs, and other consumer products.

The recalled pacifiers have a latex nipple, ring-shaped handle, and heart-shaped mouth guard with two ventilation holes. “Bobby Chupete” and a picture of an infant are printed on the packaging and the pacifiers came in red, white, aqua, and yellow colors, the CPSC said.

The pacifiers were sold in stores nationwide from November 2004 through July 2009 for about $1.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled pacifiers away from infants and toddlers to avoid choking injuries and contact Grand World for a refund or a replacement pacifier, the CPSC said.
