More Injuries Linked to Recalled Pressure Washers, Air Compressors
DeVilbiss pressure washers and air compressors, which were recalled in 2006, are still causing broken bones and other serious injuries to users, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
As a result of the continuing injuries, the CPSC today reissued the earlier recall notice in an effort to get the word out about the risks associated with the products.
About 620,000 DeVilbiss pressure washers and 72,000 compressors were recalled in December 2006 after more than 26 reports of injuries caused when the pneumatic tires on the products burst, causing cuts and broken bones.
Since the recall, the company has received about another 75 consumer reports of injuries associated with the products, the CPSC said.
The recalled pressure washers and air compressors were sold under the brand names Delta, Excell, Porter-Cable, Pressure-Wave, Water, and Driver.
For a complete listing of the model numbers and manufacturing dates of the recalled DeVilbiss products, see the CPSC recall notice.
The products were manufactured in the United States and sold at home centers and hardware stores nationwide. The pressure washers were sold from January 2004 through November 2005 for between $300 and $1,400. The recalled air compressors were sold between December 2004 and October 2006 for between $300 and $500, the CPSC said.
Consumers are advised to stop using these products immediately and contact DeVilbiss to obtain the location of the nearest service center to receive a free replacement of the tires which are blamed for causing the injuries.
