Trudeau Garlic Press/Slicers Recalled Due to Risks of Cuts to Users

About 22,000 Trudeau Garlic Duo Slicers are being recalled because the blades on the kitchen tools can break during use, posing a laceration risk to users.

Canada-based Trudeau Corporation has received four reports of the product’s sliver blades breaking but no reports of injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. Each year, thousands of people are injured or killed in mishaps with defective household appliances and other consumer products.

Combination garlic press and slicers with model numbers of 998009, 998010, or 998010CB are involved in the voluntary recall. The model numbers were printed on the packing card, hang tag, and UPC label, but on the product itself, officials said. The recalled products also have “Trudeau” embossed on the handle.

The recalled products were made in China sold in retail and department stores across the United States for about $20, the CPSC said.

If you have the recalled Trudeau Garlic Duo Slicer in your kitchen, you are advised to stop using the item immediately and contact Trudeau for directions on how to receive a free replacement garlic press and a complimentary set of 3 flipper measuring spoons, the company and the CPSC said.
