Two Lawsuits Filed in Boston Subway Wreck
Two Boston-area women have filed personal-injury lawsuits for injuries stemming from the May 2009 crash involving train cars on the city’s subway system.
Rebecca Bishop, 28, of Lynn, Mass., and Jennifer Levi of Brookline, Mass., filed separate lawsuits in Suffolk Superior Court seeking compensation for their injuries. At least 62 people were hurt in the accident, which occurred on the transit system’s Green Line. Transportation officials have said a transit driver at the controls of one of the trains was sending a text at the time of the accident, but the investigation into the actual cause continues.
Bishop said she suffered a broken pelvis in the accident, while Levi, who is pregnant, said she sustained a wrist injury and has concerns about the health of her unborn baby, according to the suits.
Both women are seeking financial compensation for their medical bills, lost income, emotional distress, and other damages.
Levi listed $30,500 in expenses in her lawsuit, while Bishop is seeking at least $29,000 in medical bills and other expenses, according to court records cited by The Associated Press.
