Stamina-RX Dietary Supplements Recalled
Stamina-RX brand dietary supplements made by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals of Norcross, Ga. are being recalled because they may contain a chemical active ingredient that is not listed on the packaging, company officials said today.
The supplements could contain benzamidenafil, which mimics the drug used in products for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and might negatively interact with nitrates users take for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, or other medical conditions, resulting in potentially life-threatening drops in blood pressure, company officials said today. The chemical is not listed on the packaging’s list of ingredients, so users are unaware of the risk of injury.
Stamina-RX products were sold across the United States in 10-, 30-, and 40-tablet bottles as well as in two- and six-tablet blister packs, company officials said. For more details on which Stamina-RX supplements have been recalled, call Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals at (888) 855-7919.
Hydroxycut Also Recalled
The Stamina-RX recall is just the latest in a series of recalls and other actions involving dietary supplements.
Last month, Hydroxycut dietary supplements were ordered recalled after they were linked to severe and deadly liver damage in some users. At least two class-action lawsuits have been filed against the makers of Hydroxycut products for injuries allegedly caused by them.
Also last month, the Food and Drug Administration announced that $1.3 million worth of Methyl 1-D, Methyl 1-D XL, and Formadrol Extreme XL brand dietary supplements had been seized and destroyed because the products were found to contain unapproved additives that could injure users.
