The nation’s largest retailers have agreed to stop selling nearly one million bassinets made by Simplicity after two children became trapped in the metal bars of the convertible baby beds and were killed, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. More Deaths Linked to Type 2 Diabetes Drug Byetta

One week after the Type 2 diabetes drug Byetta was named a factor in the deaths of two patients, the drug makers have confirmed the deaths of four more people who had been taking the drug. Byetta, made by Eli Lilly and Amylin Pharmaceuticals, has been linked to acute pancreatitis, which can result in nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and other symptoms. Hot Pockets Recalled: May Contain Plastic Pieces

Swiss food giant Nestle has recalled about 215,000 pounds of its Hot Pocket pepperoni pizza sandwiches after customer complaints of finding pieces of plastic in the food, officials said. The voluntary recall, announced August 21, 2008, involves the 54-ounce, 12-pack Hot Pocket items that were produced on June 5, 2008 and sold at retail stores nationwide. The recalled items carry a UPC code of #436950751. Also, the side of the recalled cartons read: “8157544614D,” “EST 7721A,” and “BEST BEFORE JAN2010.” …
