Sharper Image Indoor Helicopters Recalled Over Fire Threat

A model of indoor helicopter sold by The Sharper Image has been recalled by federal product safety officials because the batteries on the toys can overheat, catch fire, and burn users. About 685,000 “Sky Scrambler” indoor helicopters were involved in the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall announced July 24. Two reports of the helicopters catching fire have been received, including one burn to a consumer’s fingertip, officials said. Salmonella Strain Found in Texas Jalapenos Imported From Mexico

The same strain of salmonella that has been blamed for sickening more than 1,000 people in 42 states and Canada has been found in jalapeno peppers grown in Mexico and processed at a Texas facility, federal health officials said. Zimmer Knee Surgery Instrument Recalled

Zimmer Holdings, Inc., a maker of instruments used in minimally invasive knee replacement surgeries, has recalled one of its products due to problems with the tool breaking during procedures. The tool, the NexGen tibial broach impactor, is used to prepare the bone for the implant, officials said. There have been six reports of the tool breaking during surgery, leaving tiny metal shards inside patients, officials said.
